OUR BREEDING PHILOSOPHY

WE BELIEVE IN

1. RESPONSIBLE AND ETHICAL BREEDING

A complete focus and attention on health, temperament and socialisation.

2. BREEDING FOR TEMPERAMENT

A dogs temperament is an aspect of its personality that is innate. It determines how that dog responds to its world and it is predominantly driven by genetics. The key to our successful breeding program is the careful selection of dogs with excellent, compatible temperaments.

3. RAISING AND NUTURING PUPPIES WITH BALANCED CHARACTERS

Unlike temperament, a dogs character is developed through early socialisation, lifestyle and its own experiences with its outside world. We believe that the particular breed of puppies that we raise should have affectionate, lovable, fun, cheeky, intuitive and confident characters. Our early socialisation and enrichment program helps to cement these desirable traits.

4. ONGOING EDUCATION

Cath regularly attends conferences and workshops to stay in touch with the latest and best evidence based practice. Liasing with other breeders and outside resources to improve our knowledge and skill set for raising puppies and to continually improve our breeding program.

5. THOUGHTFUL APPLICATION REVIEW

We personally review and read EVERY single puppy application that we receive, to ensure our babies are going to the best of homes. We are also happy to work with families to make sure our puppies are the correct breed for them and that the transition to their home is smooth.

6. ONGOING COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT

We firmly believe that if we bring a puppy into the world, then we are responsible for its wellbeing for life. We have developed a great support network for staying in touch with our families and assisting them at any point in their dogs life. Our families have also developed their own friendship networks with each other, regularly getting together for meet ups.

7. AGE APPROPRIATE SOCIALISATION

We use a variety of early enrichment philosophies but we predominantly follow Puppy Culture. From ENS (early neurological stimulation) to crate training, each puppy experiences a fun, educational and well thought out approach to socialisation, ensuring all our babies meet their families well adjusted, happy, confident babies.

8. DOGS SHOULD BE PART OF THE FAMILY

We do not own kennels, nor are any of our dogs or puppies kept in cages. They are free to roam our 10 acre property, swimming in the dam, chasing "bin chickens", rolling in cow poop or sleeping on our sofa (not necessarily in that order thankfully!). Our guardian dogs also get to experience farm life when they are with us which they love.

9. KEEPING OUR PRICES WITHIN REACH OF THE AVERAGE FAMILY.

We were well-established breeders long before Covid hit. Unlike many other breeders, we did not price gouge and increase the cost of our puppies to cash in on the high demand during Covid. Our puppies have remained the same cost for a couple of years now and we do not charge more for specific colours, gender or a more popular breed. Every home should be able to afford a PTL puppy!

10. COMPLETE HEALTH TESTING OF ALL OUR BREEDING DOGS

Our dogs are DNA health tested against genetic diseases associated with their breeds. Our pure bred foundation breeding dogs have also had hip and elbow scores completed and graded, they are patella cleared and our pure-bred cavaliers are all are heart cleared.

Our focus when breeding is to produce healthy puppies, that are sound of mind and sound of body, with loving, gentle temperaments.

I am always available for full support and if circumstances ever change then I'm happy to take your puppy back, no questions asked. I am happy to answer any questions, any time.
